Code of conduct

Five short rules so everyone can learn in a safe space: comments, challenge projects and votes.

The 5 rules

  1. Kindness first

Talk to others the way you would like to be talked to. Everyone is a beginner once.

  2. Critique the code, not the person

Precise feedback on code helps. A remark about the person hurts and teaches nobody anything.

  3. No spam, no asking for votes

No repeated messages, ads or off-topic links. Don’t ask for votes: projects speak for themselves.

  4. No cheating, no multiple accounts

One account per person and work that is your own. Copying a project or voting with several accounts spoils the challenge for everyone.

  5. Report rather than reply

When a message crosses the line, don’t get into the fight: use “Report”. Moderation takes care of it.

When a rule is broken

Moderation applies a graduated scale, depending on severity and repetition:

  1. Warning

A reminder of the rule; the content may be removed.

  2. Points removed

Points, votes or badges obtained against the rules are taken away.

  3. Suspension

The account is suspended. A serious breach (harassment, threats, illegal content) can lead there directly.
